Women's Soccer Stunned by Emporia State

The visiting Hornets picked up a 5-1 win against UCCS Sunday afternoon at Mountain Lion Stadium

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Playing their final non-conference game of the season, the University of Colorado Springs women's soccer team fell at home to Emporia State, 5-1.

The visiting Hornets scored the first four goals of the game before UCCS got one back when Lo Vyvlecka sent the ball to the back of the net off of a pass from Michaela Mansfield on the right side. The goal was Vyvlecka's first goal of the season and fourth of her career.

Emporia State pressured the Mountain Lions throughout the game, evidenced by their 28 shots and 10 shots on goal.

For UCCS, junior goalkeeper Grace Ramsden made five saves in the loss which was just one shy of her season high.

Bethany Leliefield paced the team with four shots as the trio of Dana Shellhorn, Jules Escobedo, and Vyvlecka all had two shots.

With the result, the Mountain Lions drop to 0-3 on the season as they look to open up their RMAC schedule on the road against Black Hills State on Friday, Sep. 16 at 1 p.m.
