COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's soccer team used a gritty performance to secure a scoreless draw at home Sunday afternoon against No. 7 Midwestern State.
The result is the best against a ranked team in the top 10 for UCCS since defeating Colorado Mesa,3-0, on Nov. 7, 2014 in the RMAC semifinals when the Mavericks were ranked ninth in the nation.
The visiting Mustangs had more chances in the game as they held the advantage in both shots (15-11) and shots on goal (7-3), however it was the Mountain Lion defense that kept the home team in the game.
Goalkeeper
David Meyer was credited with a total of seven saves while the defense also added several blocked shots and team saves.
The result keeps UCCS undefeated as they are now 1-0-1 on the early season.
The Mountain Lions will make their first road trip of the season when they visit Newman in Witchita, Kan. next Saturday for a game scheduled for 6 p.m.
