PUEBLO, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's soccer team won their third straight game with a 1-0 result on the road Friday night against CSU-Pueblo, their Steel & Silver Series rivals.
Senior midfielder
Cort Searls netted the game-winner 23
rd minute as he converted a penalty kick opportunity for the visiting Mountain Lions. The goal was Searl's third of the season, a team high thus far.
Goalkeeper
David Meyer continued his strong play for UCCS as he notched a season-high 10 saves, earning his third straight shutout and fifth of the campaign.
Meyer and the rest of the Mountain Lions were kept busy in the game as the Thunderwolves totaled 25 shots to their eight as well as earning 10 corner kicks to UCCS' two corners.
Searls, along with
Alex Vonholle, led the team with two shots on goal.
The win puts UCCS at 5-4-1 overall and 3-2-0 in RMAC play. UCCS will have a week to prepare for No. 9 Regis, when they travel to take on the Rangers next Friday at 4 p.m. in Denver.
