COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Despite out-shooting their opponents, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's soccer team fell at home Sunday, 3-0, to Colorado Mesa.
The Mountain Lions posted 16 shots in the game while holding Colorado Mesa to just nine. However, it was the Mavericks who were able to find the back of the net on three occasions.
With less than a minute remaining in the first half, Colorado Mesa's Andres Delgadilo scored off of a header, which came from a corner kick by Luis Schraidt.
The Mavericks then added to their lead with a pair of goals from Roy Abergil in the 59
th and 68
th minutes to seal their win.
Alex Reichler made five saves in goal for the Mountain Lions as the sophomore was making his first start of the season.
UCCS, which slips to 2-3-1 overall and 1-1-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference will have a week to prepare for Colorado Mines when they meet in Golden, Colo. next Friday.
