Men's Soccer Defeat Westminster, 3-0

Cort Searls scored the Mountain Lions' first two goals as the team opened up their RMAC schedule with a shutout victory

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's soccer team remained unbeaten at home as they opened up their RMAC schedule with a 3-0 win over Westminster.

Senior Cort Searls paced the Mountain Lions with a brace, netting goals in third and 19th minutes before Jake Demerath added the third goal with 11 minutes remaining in the game.

Both players now lead the team with four points as they each have two goals thus far.

UCCS needed just three saves as David Meyer picked up the win as he was credited with making one save as the Mountain Lions managed also played Alex Reichler and Scott Jensen in goal.

The win puts UCCS at 2-2-1 overall and 1-0-0 in the conference as they return to Mountain Lion Stadium on Sunday when they host Colorado Mesa at 1 p.m.

NOTES:
- UCCS continued their dominance at home in 2016 as they have shutout their three first opponents inside Mountain Lion Stadium.
- The Mountain Lions out-shot Westminster 20 to 7 in the win.
