UCCS fell behind in the first half and were unable to come back against the nationally-ranked Tigers

HAYS, Kan. The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's soccer team wrapped up their Kansas road swing with a 7-3 setback to No. 20 Fort Hays State.

The home standing Tigers scored the game's first four goals before Alex Vonholle netted his first goal of the season off of a cross by Mario Mandel in the 54th minute.

Fort Hays tacked on two more goals before Jake McAllister scored on a header in the 85th minute off of a feed from JJ Meyer, who leads the team with three points (1 goal, 1 assist) through four games.

Jake Demerath rounded out the scoring for UCCS as he scored the team's third goal in the final minute of play, which was also his first goal of the season.

The Mountain Lions finished with six shots on goal and a total of 14 shots as Fort Hays has nine shots on goal and 16 total shots.

Both teams were even in corner kicks, as they took five each.

The result puts UCCS at 1-2-1 on the year as they wrap-up the non-conference portion of their schedule.

On Friday, Sep. 16, the Mountain Lions return home when they host Westminster in their Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opener at 7 p.m.
