RMAC's Top Three-Point Team Heads to Chadron State Friday

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's basketball team will take the RMAC's top three-point shooting team to the Nebraska panhandle for a Friday night game at Chadron State. The Mountain Lions (5-3, 2-0 RMAC) will take on the Eagles (1-4, 1-1 RMAC) at 5:30 p.m., at the Chicoine Center.

UCCS is leading the conference with 8.5 three-pointers per game and 37.6 percent from the three-point line. The Mountain Lions shot 50 percent or better in the two victories last week and are No. 26 in Division II for three-point percentage and No. 30 in three-pointers per game.

Chelsea Pearson went five-of-seven at the three-point line last week against Black Hills State and South Dakota Mines, and is third in the RMAC in percentage. She played a season-high 20 points and scored a season-high nine points against the Hardrockers on Saturday night.

Jen Vigil is third with 2.6 made three-pointers per game, and made five against Black Hills State on Friday. She's eighth in the conference with 41.2 percent from the arc and is ninth in total scoring with 12.8 points per game. Teammate Brittany Hernandez is second in the RMAC with 14.8 points per game and averaged 25 last weekend to start the conference.

Hernandez is sixth in UCCS career records with 1,213 points and could move into fourth with an average night against the Eagles. She needs eight to tie Tara Newton for fifth and 11 to tie Stephanie Frisch for fourth. Hernandez is also seventh in career rebounding with 549 and needs five to tie Michelle Mathiesen for sixth in program history.

Chadron State is coming off a 69-64 win against Colorado Christian on Saturday night. Kalli Fedderson led the Eagles with 15 points and has led the team's scoring effort in two of the last three games. Erin Graham leads the team with 12.2 points while Kylah Collins is averaging a team-leading 7.2 rebounds and 11 points.

Mac Buckley will call the play-by-play action with Charlie Botnick on color analysis on the UCCS Athletic Network. Coverage will begin at 5:15 p.m., exclusively on the team's Facebook and Twitter pages.
