The game featured eight ties and six lead changes during the first three quarters before UCCS put together an 8-0 run at the end of the third and the beginning of the fourth for a 48-38 lead with nine minutes, seven seconds to play. The Mustangs brought the Mountain Lions within two points three times, the latest at 2:14 to play, but the UCCS defense held Midwestern State scoreless in the final two minutes to earn the six-point victory.
