COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – On Senior Night, it was fitting that senior forward
Austin Seifert played the hero, scoring the game's lone goal in an overtime win over visiting Fort Lewis Friday evening.
Seifert managed to slot home a through ball from
Cort Searls in the 97
th minute, giving the University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's soccer team their 10
th win of the season.
Seifert now has two goals on the season, both of which are game-winners. The other goal came against Colorado Christian on Sep. 25.
The transfer led the team with three shots as five other players notched two shots each.
In goal,
David Meyer recorded five saves to earn his ninth shutout of the season while lowering his goals against average to 0.84. The junior how holds an impressive .818 saves percentage going into the final game of the regular season.
The game was evenly played as UCCS held a slight 13 to 12 advantage in shots while the Skyhawks placed five shots on goal compared to four by the Mountain Lions.
UCCS also held a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks.
The win puts the Mountain Lions at 10-6-1 overall and 9-4 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference as they wrap up the regular season at home on Sunday when they host Adams State at 11 a.m.
