GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Despite scoring first, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's soccer team fell 2-1 on Sunday at No. 14 Colorado Mesa.

Alex Vonholle put the Mountain Lions ahead in the 28
th minute off of an assist from
Blake Barnes. The goal is Vonholle's sixth of the season.
After going into halftime with the lead, UCCS gave up a pair of goals in the 61
st and 69
th minutes as Luis Schraidt and Roy Abergil each found the back of the net.
As a team, the Mountain Lions were outshot 9 to 7 as Colorado Mesa also held the advantage 5 to 2 in shots on goal.
UCCS did take four corner kicks to the Mavericks one as
David Meyer took the loss with three saves to his credit.
The result puts the Mountain Lions at 9-6-1 overall and 8-4 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
UCCS returns home next weekend to wrap up the regular season, beginning with Fort Lewis on Friday, Oct. 28 at 5 p.m.
