COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer team earned their first draw of the season as they tied Colorado Christian at home Sunday afternoon, 3-3.
After the Cougars went up 2-0 with a pair of goal in the 52
nd and 58
th minutes, UCCS scored three straight before the Cougars' Mariah Fredericks equalized with six minutes left in regulation.
Trailing by two goals, senior forward
Michaela Mansfield scored in the 67
th minutes off of a free kick before
Bethany Leliefeld scored the equalizer in the 74
th minute, which was her first of the season.
Mansfield then put the Mountain Lions ahead just eight minutes later, giving UCCS a 3-2 advantage.
Both teams were unable to find the back of the net in the two ten-minute overtime periods, ending the game a stalemate.
In all, Mansfield paced UCCS with six shots, placing two on goal as Leliefeld notched five shots, putting three on frame.
Goalkeepers
Dorothy Bertoncin and
Grace Ramsden combined for six saves for the Mountain Lions.
UCCS is now 2-9-1 overall and 2-5-1 in the RMAC as the team is off until Friday when they travel to take on MSU Denver at 5 p.m.
