COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. –
Alex Welsh scored a career-high 41 points and led both teams with nine rebounds as the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (13-9, 10-5 RMAC) won its fifth straight game with a 94-85 victory against New Mexico Highlands (11-10, 10-5 RMAC). The win moved the Mountain Lions into a tie for fourth in the RMAC standings with Highlands and Colorado Christian.
Welsh went 14-of-21 from the field in the fourth 40-point performance for a Mountain Lion in program history. His nine rebounds pushed his career total to 797 rebounds, three away from the UCCS record set by Jack Bain from 2001-04. Welsh was a perfect eight-of-eight at the free throw line tonight.
Kendall Godley scored 20 points in his best performance since Jan. 8, against Westminster. It was his fourth 20-point game of the season and he added six rebounds.
Dalton Patten scored 11 and
Tim Haas added 10.
Brandon Malone made nine assists, one away from a spot in the top 10 performances in program history.
