Entire Team Scores in 91-55 Win at South Dakota Mines

RAPID CITY, S.D. – All 12 University of Colorado Colorado Springs student-athletes scored after an 8-0 game-opening run as the Mountain Lions (12-6, 8-4 RMAC) won 91-55 against South Dakota School of Mines and Technology (8-8, 5-7 RMAC) at the King Center.

The Mountain Lions held a 24-6 lead after the first quarter and a 27-point lead at 45-18 at the end of the half. It was the largest halftime lead for UCCS this season and the 45 points were the most against a conference opponent in the first half this season. The Mountain Lions made eight of 14 three-pointers in the first two quarters.

Brittany Hernandez scored 13 of her 19 points in the third quarter to lead a 31-point output for the Mountain Lions in the period. UCCS led 76-55 after the third quarter and relied on reserve student-athletes in the fourth quarter to finish with the 91-55 win.

The 91 points and the 36-point margin of victory were both one point away from top 10 performances in program history in both categories. It was the second 90-point game of the season for the Mountain Lions and the fourth game with at least 45 percent from the field after a 32-of-66 performance tonight for 49 percent.

Hernandez led both teams with 19 points and matched the game-high with three steals. Tori Fisher added 13 points with a game-high seven rebounds and led the Mountain Lion rebounding effort for the last two games. Jen Vigil scored 12 points with four-of-nine shooting at the three-point line.

UCCS will remain in South Dakota for a 5:30 p.m., game on Saturday at Black Hills State. The Yellow Jackets (13-3, 10-2 RMAC) defeated MSU Denver 67-64 tonight.
