Mountain Lions Fall to Adams State on the Road

ALAMOSA, Colo. – University of Colorado Colorado Springs junior guard Derrick White scored 19 points and junior forward Alex Welsh added another 18, but the No. 15 Mountain Lions (19-4 / 13-4 RMAC) couldn't recover from an early deficit in an 88-75 loss at Adams State (15-6 / 11-6 RMAC). Darius Pardner added 11 points to lead the bench.

The Mountain Lions led by one early in the game on a three-point play from TreShawn Wilford, but Adams State scored the next eight points and never let go of the lead. UCCS matched the Grizzlies' in the second half with 43 points, and out-rebounded Adams State throughout the game 38-29. It's the fourth rebounding advantage for the Mountain Lions in the last five games.

White led the Mountain Lions with eight rebounds and five assists. Welsh added six rebounds to bring his season total to 171, and is 17 rebounds away from tying for No. 10 in UCCS season records. Pardner finished with double-digit points for the third time in the last four games.

UCCS will remain on the road for a Saturday game against Fort Lewis in Durango, Colo. The Skyhawks (17-6 / 12-5 RMAC) fell to Colorado State-Pueblo 83-59 earlier tonight.
