COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -
Shannon Kelly led the University of Colorado Colorado Springs with 13 points, four assists and four steals as the Mountain Lions (2-20) dropped a 75-69 contest to Northern State (4-1) tonight in the Gallogly Events Center.
Jen Vigil added another 12 points and
Gabby Ramirez led the bench with 10 points.
The Mountain Lions outscored the Wolves in the final two quarters of the night and narrowed an 18-point deficit early in the third quarter to a four-point game at 67-63 with 1:54 to play. UCCS used a 15-4 run to close the gap during the fourth quarter, and kept it within two possessions for the final two minutes of the game, but couldn't cut the deficit down to a possession as Northern State went six-of-six at the free throw line in the final 34 seconds.
Kelly went five-of-12 from the field and was one of five Mountain Lions to finish with multiple three-pointers tonight.
Lauren Bennett let both teams with three field goals from beyond the arc for her nine points tonight. Vigil was four-of-nine with a pair of three-poineters and added four steals. The Mountain Lions finished with 14 steals for the second straight night and forced 22 turnovers by the Wolves.
UCCS will remain at home for the Thanksgiving week with a Tuesday night game against Johnson & Wales at 7 p.m., and a Saturday night game against Saint Martin's at 5:30 p.m. Johnson & Wales (6-2) won 63-62 earlier today against Central Christian.
