DENVER – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's soccer clinched its fifth RMAC Tournament appearance with its sixth straight win in a 2-1 victory at Regis today at the Regis Soccer Pitch. The six straight wins matches the longest winning streak in program history set in 1999.
Josh Berntsson scored the first goal of the game in the 22nd minute after his first shot was saved by the Regis goalkeeper but not controlled, and he put the rebound into the net. The Rangers evened the score just more than 10 minutes later on their second shot of the game.
A foul inside the box by Regis setup a penalty kick opportunity for UCCS with 1:49 left in the first half.

Zach Egeler collected the rebound to put it past the Ranger goalkeeper. The Mountain Lions scores two first-half goals for the first time since Sept. 25 and took the 2-1 lead into halftime.
UCCS held a 9-4 shot advantage in the first half, and Regis held an 8-5 shot advantage in the second half.
Peter Vogrin made two saves in the second half to keep the Rangers off the scoreboard as the Mountain Lions won for the first time at Regis since Oct. 17, 2003.
The sixth straight win matches the longest winning streak since Sept. 3-19, 1999, and it's the second-longest unbeaten streak when accounting for the longest stretch of wins and ties. The win improved the UCCS overall record 10-3 for the eighth 10-win season in program history and the second straight.
The Mountain Lions are in a three-way tie for second in the RMAC standings with three conference games left among the four regular season games remaining. UCCS is tied with Colorado Mesa and MSU Denver with one fewer game counted for the 18 points. The Mountain Lions take on Colorado Mesa on Friday at 7 p.m., at home, in a game that will count for the conference standings.
