#16 UCCS Looks for Record-Setting Ninth Straight Win at Chadron

CHADRON, Neb. – The RMAC-leading University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's basketball team will go for its record-setting ninth straight win tonight when the No. 16 Mountain Lions (16-2 / 11-1 RMAC) take on Chadron State (3-13 / 3-9 RMAC) at 5:30 p.m., in the Chicoine Center. It'll be the first game for the Mountain Lions in the new facility that opened in November.

The current eight-game winning streak matches the longest in program history put together in the 2012-13 and 1992-93 seasons. Another win would also push UCCS up to 17 victories and tie for the third most in a season. The Mountain Lions have won five straight against Chadron State since Feb. 17, 2012, and are 13-10 all-time against the Eagles.

Brittany Hernandez finished with three blocked shots last night to improve her season total to 41 and move into seventh in UCCS records. She needs two more to tie Corrissa Johnson's total from the 1999-2000 and move into sixth in program history. Hernandez moved back into the conference lead after last night and is averaging 2.3 per game.

Abby Kirchoff, the defending RMAC Offensive Player of the Week, improved her career scoring total to 1,693 points with a 14-point performance last night. She went two-of-two at the free throw line last night to improve her percentage to 89.2 percent, and is on pace to finish third in program single-season records.

Chadron State is coming off a 72-58 loss to Colorado State-Pueblo last night and is 2-3 in its last five games. Emma Block leads the offense with 12.8 points per game, while the rebounding load is spread among four Eagles with at least four rebounds per game.

Fans will be able to follow tonight's game with live stats through Chadron State, live audio through UCCS and live video streaming through America One Sports. Fans can also watch the game for free at Clyde's, located on the lower level of the University Center.
