Box Score COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs won its fourth straight match in a three-set sweep today against New Mexico Highlands. The Mountain Lions (7-7 / 4-2 RMAC) won 25-20, 25-23 and 25-18 against the Cowgirls (5-10 / 1-5 RMAC).
Cassidy Bush led the offense for the second straight night with 11 kills, and
Madison Palmer led both teams with seven blocks.
Kim Catlett matched her season-high with four service aces and remained in second in the RMAC for aces per set. The Mountain Lions trailed for only seven points early in the first and second sets, and never trailed Highlands in the third set.
UCCS committed only 13 attack errors throughout the match, one off of its season-low of 12 against Alaska two weeks ago. The Mountain Lions made 11 blocks, the most in a three-set match since Oct. 17, 2013, and extended a double-digit blocking streak to four matches. UCCS hit .353 in the final set with only one attack error, and Bush, Palmer and Catlett combined for 10 of the 13 kills in the set.
The Mountain Lions are on their longest winning streak since an eight-match streak from Sept. 7-22, 2012. The four-match conference winning streak is the longest since the start of the 2012 season, and another win would be the longest in a single season since 2009. UCCS is in a tie for fifth in the conference standings with other matches still to be played tonight. The Mountain Lions improved to 6-1 at home with tonight's win.
UCCS will be on the road to the northern schools of the RMAC next week. The Mountain Lions on South Dakota School of Mines in a non-conference match on Thursday in Rapid City, S.D., before playing Black Hills State on Friday and Chadron State on Saturday.
