Brittany Hernandez led No. 18 University of Colorado Colorado Springs with 18 points and earned her fourth double-double of the season with 11 rebounds as the Mountain Lions (7-1 / 2-0 RMAC) won their fifth straight game in an 81-53 victory against Adams State (0-6 / 0-2 RMAC) tonight in the Gallogly Events Center.
Gabby Ramirez finished with a team-high and career-high 12 rebounds and added a team-high six assists.
UCCS scored the first 16 points of the game and only let the Grizzlies within 10 points once in the rest of the game. The Mountain Lions recorded its best scoring defense, field goal defense (24.6 percent) and three-point field goal defense (21.7 percent) of the season while scoring more than 80 points for the fourth straight game. UCCS hasn't trailed for the last 79 minutes and has only played from behind in one of the last 183 minutes.
Hernandez went six-of-nine from the field and six-of-seven at the free throw line for her team-high 18 points. Ramirez recorded her third straight game with at least five assists.
Abby Kirchoff scored 10 points to keep a double-digit scoring streak alive at 41 consecutive games.
UCCS will remain at home next weekend for a Friday game against MSU Denver and a Saturday game against Regis. Both games are set to begin at 5:30 p.m.
