Kirchoff Breaks UCCS Scoring Record in RMAC-Opening Win

Box Score COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - University of Colorado Colorado Springs senior guard Abby Kirchoff scored a game-high 22 points and broke the program career scoring record to lead the No. 18 Mountain Lions to a 91-64 RMAC-opening win against Fort Lewis tonight in the Gallogly Events Center. Kirchoff finished the night with 1,471 points near the start of her senior season.

UCCS gave up the opening bucket, but led by double-digit figures for the final 25 minutes and by at least 20 points in the final eight minutes. The Mountain Lions finished with a field goal percentage greater than 50 percent for the third straight game with 50.8 percent tonight and extended the current winning streak to four games.

Kirchoff surpassed Jennie Sauter's record of 1,464 points with a three-pointer from in front of the basket with eight minutes and 37 seconds left in the second half. Kirchoff went eight-of-16 from the field and added seven rebounds, all on the defensive side. Gabby Ramirez led UCCS wth five assists and scored a season-high 17 points.

Tori Fisher scored 13 points and Kellie Krueger led the bench with 11 points. Brittany Hernandez led both teams with nine rebounds and two blocked shots to anchor the Mountain Lion defense.

UCCS will go for its fifth straight win and a 4-0 home start on Saturday against Adams State at 5:30 p.m. The Grizzlies (0-5 / 0-1 RMAC) lost to Colorado State-Pueblo 61-46 tonight.
