11/7/2014 11:54:00 PM

Box Score COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - University of Colorado Colorado Springs junior outside hitter Kim Catlett recorded 20 kills and 17 digs to lead the Mountain Lions in both categories in a 3-1 victory against Chadron State tonight in the Gallogly Events Center. The win tonight sets up UCCS (11-15 / 7-10 RMAC) for a win-and-advance situation on Saturday at 5 p.m. against Black Hills State for a spot in the RMAC Tournament.

The Mountain Lions finished with more kills than the Eagles in the first set, but also commited more attack errors. UCCS put together a five-point run to tie the first set at 23-23, but Chadron State finished with a kill and block to claim the first set 25-23.

Both teams tied each other eight times and exchanged the lead five times in a back-and-forth second set. Chadron State tied the set at 14-14 on a quick three-point run, but the Mountain Lions put together an 11-3 run to close out the set and even the match with a 25-17 set victory.

The Mountain Lions hit a match-high .324 in the third set and recorded 19 kills in the fourth set to claim 25-22 and 25-20 set wins, respectively, in the 3-1 win. The victory improved the UCCS home record to 8-4 in the second straight win.

Cassidy Bush hit a team-high .415 with 15 kills and Lauren Hahn added 14 kills to add to Catlett's offensive performance. The Mountain Lions finished with 67 team kills, the most in a four-set match this season and the most in the RMAC season. Morgan Evans finished with a season-high 54 assists in the effort.

Nathasha Habert made 14 digs and Evans added 12 in the defensive effort. Bush and Catlett both led the team with three blocks.

UCCS is in a three-way tie for eighth in the RMAC standings with Black Hills State and Western New Mexico with the final regular season match on Saturday. A win would move the Mountain Lions past Black Hills State, and if Western New Mexico defeated Colorado State-Pueblo on Saturday, UCCS would hold the tiebreaker by virtue of a win in the only meeting against the Mustangs this season.
