#22 UCCS Moves to 5-1 in Win Against Dustdevils

Box Score COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Abby Kirchoff recorded her second straight night with 29 points and Brittany Hernandez scored 21 points with 13 rebounds and four blocked shots as No. 22 University of Colorado Colorado Springs improved to 5-1 in a 91-75 victory tonight against Texas A&M International in the Gallogly Events Center. The Mountain Lions never trailed and shot better than 55 percent from the three-point line for the second time this weekend.

Kirchoff improved her career scoring total to 1,449 points, and needs 15 points to tie, and 16 to break, the UCCS record of 1,464 points. She went five-of-eight from the three-point line along with a team-high seven assists and three steals. 

Hernandez recorded her third double-double of the season and finished with four blocked shots for the second straight game. It was her fifth 20-point game of the season and came along with a season-high four assists.

Jessika Kienitz scored a season-high 16 points with a four-of-five night at the three-point line. Sam Patterson led the Mountain Lion bench with seven points and seven rebounds.

UCCS will open the 2014-15 RMAC season at home on Friday, Dec. 5, against Fort Lewis. The Skyhawks (3-1) fell to Northern Arizona earlier today in exhibition action.
