Second tie of weekend ends road trip for UCCS

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - A 1-1 tie was the result of the rescheduled match between the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (1-1-2 / 0-0-2) and Colorado Mesa University (2-3-1 / 0-1-1) as the Mountain Lions came back to Colorado Springs after going 0-0-2 on the weekend.

This game was scheduled to be played the day prior but lightening in the area suspended play until today.

The Mavericks took the early lead with a penalty kick after an unfortunate handball was committed by UCCS in the CMU box.  Alan Hernandez took the PK for CMU beating UCCS goalkeeper Brandon Costa for his first goal allowed on the season in 25th minute.

Costa still has yet to allow any goals outside penalty kicks.

The Mountain Lions answered back quickly when James Roberts headed in a free kick from Cort Seals to tie the score at 1-1. The goal was Roberts second on the season.

Neither team found the net again for the remainder of the game as both teams played an additional 20 minutes of overtime to no avail.

Up Next: UCCS is at home for a pair of games at Mountain Lion Stadium this coming weekend starting off with Fort Lewis Friday night at 7:00 p.m.
