Levett Scores Twice as UCCS Cruises to a 3-0 Victory

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.- The University of Colorado Colorado Springs (3-0-0) played its first home game of the 2013 season and cruised to a 3-0 victory over the visiting Tigers of Fort Hays State University (2-2-0).

Tonight's victory marks the fourth time in program history that the Mountain Lions have opened their season with a perfect 3-0 record. In just three games played this season, UCCS has amassed ten goals while only allowing two.

Junior forward Hannah Levett was credited with the game-winning goal in tonight's matchup when she scored her first goal of the night off a header in the box on a cross from senior Agnes Arnadottir in the 24th minute. Despite launching ten shots in the first half of play compared to Fort Hays State's two shots, both teams entered half time with the 1-0 score.

At the 78th minute mark UCCS freshman Jess Freeze scored her first collegiate goal assisted by Megan Avery. The Mountain Lions would knock one more in as Levett scored her second goal of the game in the 84th minute assisted by sophomore Taylor Braden. Braden now has three assists in three games played.

In the 3-0 victory, UCCS outshot the Tigers 21-10. Senior goalkeeper Kelly Schroeder made three saves and was credited with the shutout win.

The Mountain Lions return to action Friday, Sept. 20 when they travel to Alamosa, Colo., for their first RMAC matchup against Adams State University.
