COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Two shots on goal were all the Greyhounds needed to beat the Mountain Lions as Eastern New Mexico University (2-2) beat the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (1-0) 1-0 Friday evening at Mountain Lion Stadium.
The loss was the first of the young season for UCCS as they now stand at 1-1 overall.
Electing to start true freshman goalkeeper
Peter Vogrin, UCCS didn't miss a beat on the defensive end. And that's saying something with senior goalkeeper
Brandon Costa fresh off RMAC Defensive Player of the Week honors. Â
ENMU's Kal Herbert scored a near un-savable goal when he fired a strike from 35 yards out that found the top left corner of the net. Â The goal was Herbert's second of the season. Jose Hernandez got credit for the assist.
Edgar Silva (2),
Sebastian Hertzberg (1) and
Austin Bell (1) all managed to get shots on goal but none found the back of the net.
Up Next: Â UCCS is back in action this Sunday at Mountain Lion Stadium when they take on non-conference foe Midwestern State University at 11 a.m.
