PUEBLO, Colo.-
Kelly Schroeder recorded her fifth shutout of the season and the No. 17 University of Colorado Colorado Springs offense added three goals as the Mountain Lions (8-2 / 4-2 RMAC) blanked Colorado State-Pueblo (1-7-1 / 1-5 RMAC) today at the Rawlings Soccer Complex.
Lindsey Birdseye opened the scoring in the 23rd minute with her first goal of the season shot from the right corner of the penalty box. The unassisted goal made it a 1-0 lead for the Mountain Lions at halftime, who enjoyed a shot advantage of 11-3 in the first 45 minutes.
Hannah Levett scored her fifth goal of the season in the 54th minute from six yards out after a pass from
Jenna Gist. The goal moved Levett alone into fourth in program season records, and needs one more goal to tie
Agnes Arnadottir's six goals from 2011. Levett also moved into a tie for sixth in program career records with
Hannah Rather at seven goals.
The Mountain Lions expanded on the lead with a goal from
Jade Hilbert in the 83rd minute into the upper right corner of the net from the assist by
Ashley Hooper.
Schroeder improved on her career program record with shutout No. 11. She needs one more to tie for No. 10 in RMAC records. UCCS needs one more shutout to tie the season record of seven shutouts from the 2009 season.
Up Next: The Mountain Lions will be back in action on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. when they take on Colorado Christian at home. The Cougars (2-8 / 0-6 RMAC) fell to Fort Lewis today 6-0.
