Tominello Lifts UCCS to Ninth Win of the Season to Set Program Record

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.- After playing a scoreless game through the final 89 minutes, Brooke Tominello scored the deciding goal with 49 seconds after to propel the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (9-2 / 5-2 RMAC) to a program record ninth victory of the season against Colorado Christian (2-9 / 0-7 RMAC) tonight at Mountain Lion Stadium.

On a cold and rainy night at Mountain Lion Stadium, UCCS had just enough offense to get the win. The Mountain Lions out-shot Christian 10-6 in the first half and had the best chance of the half but could not put any goals in.

The same was true for almost the entire second half until the final minute when the Mountain Lions earned a corner kick on the far corner. Ashley Hooper took the kick and the ball found its way to Tominello, who put it into the goal near the right corner of the net for her third goal of the season with 49 seconds left. The Mountain Lions out-shot the Cougars 23-11 overall with Tominello leading the offense with seven shots with three on goal including the goal.

Goalkeeper Kelly Schroeder stopped all seven shots from the Cougars to preserve the win and earn her sixth shutout of the year and No. 12 in her career. The career mark puts her No. 10 in RMAC records.

Up next: The Mountain Lions will host Colorado Mesa (8-1-2 / 5-1-1 RMAC) who are coming off a 2-1 victory against Adams State earlier today.
