UCCS falls to No. 14 Metro State 2-3

Denver, Colo. - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's volleyball team loses its first conference match of the season as they fall to No. 14 Metro State 2-3 (19-25, 25-12, 25-22, 19-25, 10-15) on Friday, September 28. With the loss, the Mountain Lions record drops to (9-4, 4-1 RMAC).

UCCS was led in this matchup by freshmen Jordan Banich and Kim Catlett. Banich had a team-high of 14 kills with two blocks, while Catlett recorded 12 kills and game-highs of 23 digs and 52 team attacks.

Middle blocker Nikki Kinzer had a well rounded game finishing with 11 kills, five digs, one service ace and a game-high of 10 blocks.  Kinzer adds to her UCCS record as she is currently No. 1 in school history in block assists in the rally scoring era (since 2001), and No. 3 all-time at UCCS with 288. Kinzer trails Tara Henry (1994-1997) who is No. 2 with 305 block assists.

Senior Lindsey Stich and Freshman Grace Gordon set up the Mountain Lion offense all night, as they collaborated on 44 assists in the match. Stich finished with a team-high of 27 assists, adding 13 digs with three kills, while Gordon had 17 assists and 12 digs.

Amy Einspahr also helped the Mountain Lions overall game in her first match back as she finished with six blocks and two kills.

Up Next: The Mountain Lions will play in Denver again on Saturday, September 29, as they take on No. 22 Regis (9-6, 3-2 RMAC).
