DURANGO, Colo. - Mash Shaswar scored two goals within the first nine minutes of the game and Brett Drefs scored the game-winning goal in the 75th minute as the University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's soccer team (2-4 / 1-2 RMAC) upset No. 17 Fort Lewis (5-2-1 / 2-1-1 RMAC) by a 3-2 score today at Dirks Field.

It's the first victory against Fort Lewis since 2001 and the first win against the Skyhawks in Durango since 1999. The win is also the first win against a top-20 team since the Mountain Lions defeated Metro State on Oct. 17, 2010.

Shaswar opened the scoring in the fifth minute off a turnover and made the shot from the top of the box. Less than five minutes later, he took advantage of a two-on-one scenario and made the shot to the far post to put the Mountain Lions ahead 2-0. The two shots by Shaswar were the only shots by UCCS in the opening half, but only one of the Skyhawks' eight shots in the half were on goal as UCCS went into halftime with a 2-0 lead.

Fort Lewis pulled within a goal in the 60th minute after a shot from 20 yards from the far right of the goal. A handball against the Mountain Lions within their box set up a penalty kick for Kosta Kordistos, who tied the game on the shot in the 69th minute.

Another handball, this one by Fort Lewis, set up a free kick for Sebastian Hertzberg in the 75th minute. Hertzberg passed to Max Thomas, who headed the ball to Brett Drefs for the game-winning goal. The Mountain Lion defense held for the final 15 minutes, allowing just two shots, in the 3-2 victory against the Skyhawks.

Shaswar moved into a tie for sixth in the RMAC scoring lists with his two unassisted goals today. Goalkeeper Brandon Costa made five saves for his third straight game with five or more saves.

Up Next: The Mountain Lions will go back on the road for a Wednesday afternoon game against Adams State at 3 p.m. The Grizzlies are 1-5 overall and 1-2 in the RMAC after losing 2-0 today to Colorado Mesa.
