COLORADO SPRINGS,Colo. - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs scored a pair of goals in the first half of the game and kept New Mexico Highlands scoreless to improve its record to a 5-0 in a 2-0 victory tonight in Mountain Lion Stadium. The start remains the best in program history and the win marks the first win in program history in the RMAC season-opener.

In a highly physical game, in which there were a combined 26 fouls, the Mountain Lions used a strong first half offense to prevail.

The scoring started out when a ball was kicked into the box and New Mexico Highlands was called for a hand ball. That set up a penalty kick that was converted by Agnes Arnadottir when she kicked it into the bottom right corner after the goalkeeper guessed the opposite direction in the 18thminute. Less than 12 minutes later, Lindsey Birdseye passed it off to Hannah Levett who slid to get the ball and then passed it to BrookeTominello who blasted it into the top left corner of the net.

New Mexico Highlands nearly scored in the second half, but a foul negated the shot that had found its way into the goal. The foul ended up with goalkeeper Kelly Schroeder leaving the game, who was replaced by Arnadottir for the final 24 minutes.

Up Next: The Mountain Lions wrap up the homestand Sunday at 2 p.m., when they take on Metro State. The Roadrunners tied Regis earlier today and come into Colorado Springs with a 3-1-1 record.
