UCCS Moves to 6-0 for First Time with Victory Against Metro State

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.- The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer defeated Metro State 3-0 to improve their record to 6-0 (2-0 RMAC) Sunday afternoon at Mountain Lion Stadium.

The Mountain Lions used good defense and clean goals to beat Metro State. The Mountain Lions opened the scoring in the 28th minute when Agnes Arnadottir ran down a loose ball and passed it to Hannah Levett who was able to control it and find Ashley Hooper who beat the goalkeeper low. The Mountain Lions next scored in the 42nd minute when Brooke Tominello passed the ball out to Hannah Rather, who dribbled inside the box and beat the goalkeeper to the right and low.

With a 2-0 lead going into the second half, the Mountain Lions scored in the 60th minute when Arnadottir ran down a pass from Tominello and beat the goalkeeper to the ball and shot it into the net rounding out the scoring.

The Mountain Lions shut down the RMAC goals leader by holding her to a single shot.

Mountain Lions goalkeeper Kelly Schroeder stopped all nine shots that were on goal and put distance between her and Metro State's goalkeeper in the RMAC statistics.

UCCS finished the six-game homestand undefeated for the longest winning streak and best start in program history. The Mountain Lions are one of two conference teams, along with Adams State, to make it through the opening weekend of the RMAC season 2-0. It's the best start to a conference season in program history.

Up Next: The Mountain Lions will be on the road for the first time when they go to Regis at 4:30 p.m. Friday. Regis is 3-2-1 (1-0-1) and coming off of a 2-0 win over Colorado State-Pueblo today.
