Bloom Finishes with Career-Best Night in Win with Cross-Town Rival Colo. College

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Freshman Amanda Bloom finished with a career-high 16 kills to lead the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (16-8) to a 3-2 (25-20, 23-25, 25-21, 19-25, 15-10) victory tonight against Colorado College. The win extended the all-time advantage against the Tigers to 22-14.

Bloom and Jordan Banich each finished with 16.5 points. Bloom started off the match strong with five of her team-high and career-best 16 kills in the set. She would also finish the night with three digs, three block assists and one assist as the Mountain Lions won the first set 25-20.

Banich also played well in the first set and carried her momentum into the second with four kills in each set. She finished with 14 kills, a game-high 21 digs, three block assists and one solo block.

UCCS never gave up the lead in the third set as the Mountain Lions well-balanced offense led them to a 25-20 win to go up in the match 2-1. Bloom led the way as she tacked on five more kills, followed by Banich, Kim Catlett and Nikki Kinzer, who each added three kills each. Catlett finished the match with eight kills, 17 digs and one block assist.

The reigning RMAC Player of the Month, Kinzer finished with nine kills, a game-high seven block assists, two solo blocks, five digs and one service ace. She continues to add to her all-time UCCS record as she is currently first in school history for career block assists with 362.  

Setters Lindsey Stich and Grace Gordon set up the Mountain Lion offense all match as they combined for 51 assists. Stich finished the match with a team-high 29 assists, 15 digs and one service ace. Gordon finished with 22 assists and nine digs.

Up Next: UCCS will be on the road as they take on Chadron State (4-20, 2-13 RMAC) on Friday Nov., 2 at 5 p.m. The Mountain Lions have won the last 15 matches against the Eagles, dating back to October 2, 2004.
