GOLDEN, Colo. -
Mash Shaswar led the University of Colorado Colorado Springs with three shots as the Mountain Lions (8-7-1 / 7-5-1 RMAC) put together an early offensive attack in a 4-0 loss to Colorado Mines (11-4-2 / 8-3-2 RMAC) today at Colorado Mines Soccer Stadium.
The decision will mean the Mountain Lions will play in the first round of the RMAC Tournament on Wednesday. The opponent, location and time is still to be determined by the results of the rest of the regular season conference schedule.
UCCS controlled the tempo early in the game with three corner kicks and a shot on goal within the first four minutes. The Mountain Lions out shot the Orediggers during the first 27 minutes but couldn't covert any shots into goals against the Mines defense.
Colorado Mines scored with just less than 10 minutes remaining in the first half and the score remained a 1-0 for the Orediggers at halftime.
Mines added another three goals in the first 15 minutes of the second half.
Brandon Costa made two saves after the scoring ended to the Mountain Lion defense.
Shaswar led seven different Mountain Lions who recorded a shot during the game, and was one of three Mountain Lions to make a shot on goal.
Up Next: UCCS ends the regular season on Sunday with a 2:30 p.m. game at Metro State. The Roadrunners were off today after a 6-0 win against Adams State on Tuesday. The teams are tied in the RMAC standings.
