COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's volleyball team beats Fort Lewis College in straight sets (28-26, 25-18, 25-18). The Mountain Lions improve to 14-6 overall, 9-3 RMAC, and 9-0 at home. This matches the best home start since 2007 when UCCSfinished 9-0 at home.

The Mountain Lions trailed nearly the entire first set, and fell behind by as many as eight points before rallying back to take their first lead at 27-26.UCCS would win the next point to close out the first set and go up 1-0 in the match. The Mountain Lions were led in the first set by freshman KimCatlett who had seven kills and six digs. Catlett finished with a game-high 13 digs on a game-high 35 team attacks while also adding 17 digs, one block assist, and one service ace.  

The Mountain Lions carried that momentum into the second set as they would lead by as many as seven points on route to a 25-18 victory to go up 2-0 in the match. The freshmen for UCCS continued to lead the team to their well rounded offensive attack. Amanda Bloom and Jordan Banich each had three kills in the second set. Bloom finished with a career-high 10 kills with a hitting percent of.500, while adding two digs and two block assist. Banichrecorded 10 kills, eight digs, and one service ace.

The reigning RMAC player of the month and RMAC defensive player of the week, Nikki Kinzer, would help lead the Mountain Lions to victory in the third set, as UCCS would win the set 25-18 to win the match 3-0. Kinzer had five of her nine kills in the third set, and also added two digs and two block assist in the match. Kinzer is second all-time in UCCS history for block assists, and now needs 18 more to move into first.

Several other Mountain Lions also helped contribute to the win for UCCS. Amy Einspahr finished the match with eight kills with a hitting percent of .389 and added two block assists. Katie Maguire would tie for a game-high with 21 digs and also had four assists.

Freshman Grace Gordon co-anchored the Mountain Lions offense as she finishes with a team-high 23 assists and added seven digs. Senior LindseyStich recorded 21 assists with three digs and one kill.
