COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's volleyball team beats Colorado Mesa 3-1 (23-25, 25-20, 26-24, 25-20). The Mountain Lions improve to 15-6 overall, 10-3 RMAC, and remain undefeated at home with a record of 10-0.

UCCS demonstrated why they are ranked first in the RMAC in block assists, blocks per set, and total blocks tonight as they dominated the net the entire match. The Mountain Lions recorded 20 team block to the Maverick's four.

UCCS was led in the first set by Senior Megan Koop and freshman Amanda Bloom who collaborated for six kills. Both players had three kills each as the Mountain Lions fell 23-25. Koop finished the match with ten kills with a hitting percent of .389 while adding three block assists, one solo block, and one dig. Bloom finished with eight kills, six block assists and three digs.

UCCS would answer back in the second set as Lindsy Heisler would lead the way with all three of her kills coming in this set, on route to a 25-20 victory. Megan Koop and Amanda Bloom continued to help the Mountain Lions offensive in this set, as they both added two more kills.

UCCS continued the momentum into the third set as the reigning RMAC player of the month and defensive player of the week, Nikki Kinzer, took over and helped propel the Mountain Lions to a 26-24 win to go up 2-1 in the match. Kinzer recorded seven kills and seven block assists in the third set alone. She would go on to finish with a team-high of 14 kills with a hitting percent of .414 and had a game-high / career-best 15 block assists. She also had a game-high and season-best 22.5 points. Kinzer is currently second all-time in UCCS history for block assists, and now needs just three more to become first.

Freshman Jordan Banich added to the UCCS output in the fourth set as she had two kills, four digs, and one block assist in the set. Banich finished the match with eight kills, with 17 digs, four block assists, one service ace, and a team-high 36 attacks.

Freshman Kim Catlett helped the Mountain Lions on the defensive end as she finishes with a tie for a team-high of 17 digs. Catlett also added three kills and two block assist with one service ace.

Setters Lindsey Stich and Grace Gordon set up the UCCS offense all match as they combined for 39 assists. Stich finished with 23 assists, two digs, and one kill. Gordon added 16 assists with six digs.
