Mountain Lions drop decision to No. 3-ranked Midwestern State

WICHITA FALLS, Texas - A goal by Paulo Teixeira in the 66th minute sent the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of the No. 3-ranked Midwestern State Mustangs Sunday afternoon at MSU Soccer Field.

Teixeira sent a low volley off a Tex McCullough throw-in past UCCS goalkeeper Adam Liszewski, who made nine saves in the match. Midwestern State keeper Raul Herrera made three saves in the win.

The Mountain Lions (1-3) have now lost three straight, each by a single goal.

Matt Friesen had four of UCCS' nine shots.

Midwestern State had 30 shots, 10 on goal, in notching its third win in as many matches. The Mustangs pounded UCCS' Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference rival Colorado State-Pueblo 3-0 on Friday.

The Mountain Lions will begin their RMAC schedule on Friday at Metro State. UCCS will return to Mountain Lion Stadium on Sunday against Colorado School of Mines.
