GRAND JUNCTION - The Mesa State Mavericks scored in the 88th minute to sink the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs Mountain Lions 3-2 Friday night.
Isak Tengesdal had two assists for UCCS (1-7-0, 1-5 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference).
The game showcased two outstanding performances by the opposing goalkeepers. Josh Tinaglia finished the game with 10 saves for the Mavericks while Mountain Lion goalkeeper
Mark Howard had eight.
The Mavericks struck first just before halftime when Reese Kegans headed in a pass from Alex Mattevi in 43rd minute.
Bobby Cinea scored his second goal of the season in the 49th minute to tie the game.
The Mavericks scored in the 75th minute when Eric Andersen headed in a corner kick by Sam Dixon. At first it appeared that Howard had stopped the ball before it went in ut the linesman ruled that the ball had crossed the line.
Greg Packer evened the score for the Mountain Lions in the 83rd minute but it wasn't enough.
The Mavericks (2-5-1, 2-4 RMAC) took the lead for good in the 88nd minute when Ben Potter deflected a wide shot from Eric Anderson into the right corner.
