Soccer: Mountain Lions blanked by No. 20 Metro State

COLORADO SPRINGS - The No. 20 Metro State Roadrunners outshot the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs Mountain Lions 25-6 in a 4-0 win Sunday afternoon at Mountain Lion Stadium.

The Roadrunners (6-1-1, 4-0-1 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) opened the scoring in the 17th minute when Mark Cromie collected a loose ball at the top of the Mountain Lions' box and placed the ball in the lower right corner.

Adam Liszewski made his first career start in goal for the Mountain Lions and finished with 11 saves including a one on a penalty kick in the 88th minute.

In the 42nd minute UCCS freshman Nick Christopher was called for a hard foul in the box and received a red card. The Roadrunners were awarded a penalty kick which Phillip Owen converted giving the Roadrunners a 2-0 lead going into halftime.

Despite playing down a man, the Mountain Lions (1-6, 1-4 RMAC) did not allow a goal for nearly 30 minutes. In the 71st minute, Garrett Sadusky slipped behind the Mountain Lion defense and slid the ball past Liszewski (0-1) for the Roadrunners' third goal of the day. Steven Emory would add another goal for the Roadrunners in the 79th minute.

The Roadrunners enjoyed a 15-0 advantage on corner kicks and limited the Mountain Lions to just six shots with just one being on goal. Ryan Vickery (6-1-1) made one save to preserve his second shutout of the season.
