DENVER -- Nathan Kafer scored twice to lead the Regis Rangers to a 4-0 victory over the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs Tuesday afternoon.
It was the seventh time this season that the Mountain Lions have been shut out. UCCS (3-14, 2-10 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) is averaging just 1.06 goals scored this season. Opponents, meanwhile, are scoring 2.99 goals per match.
The match was originally scheduled for Sunday, but snowy conditions forced a postponement to Tuesday.
Regis (9-6-1, 7-4-1 RMAC) opened the scoring just 4 minutes, 37 seconds into the match when Sterling Copeland converted on a Sam DePetro crossing pass. Kafer scored the first of his two goals in the 30th minute. His second came in the 63rd minute on a free kick.
Both of Kafer's goals were unassisted. He now has 12 this season.
Wally Fink knocked in an Andrew Munday corner kick for his first goal of the season.
The Rangers outshot the Mountain Lions 18 to 7 and allowed just two shots in the second half.
