University of Colorado at Colorado Springs freshman Kellen Griswold scored his first career goal but that was the lone bright spot as the Mountain Lions were beaten 6-1 by the Metro State Roadrunners Friday afternoon at Auraria Field in Denver.

Antonio Porras scored his 39th and 40th career goals to set a Metro State record. Porras trailed Jared Zanon (1996-99) by one goal coming into the match but tied the career mark in the 31st minute. He then set the record just 10 minutes later on a feed from Phillip Owen and Wynne Mason.

"We have gotten better at putting teams away," said Roadrunner coach Ken Parsons. "We knew that UCCS would come out fighting but by scoring three goals early we were able to take control."

The Roadrunners scored three goals before halftime, then added three more in the second half. Metro State had just eight shots in the game, six going for scores. Ryan Vickery earned the win in goal for the Roadrunners.

Kellen Johnson scored Metro State's first goal of the game off a loose ball, then Porras made it 3-0 with his two scores. After halftime, Shaun Elbaum scored before the Mountain Lions made it 4-1 on Griswold's score. Garrett Sadusky answered, then Mason scored one of his own after stealing the ball just short of midfield and dribbling in for the score.

With the win, Metro State improved to 5-2 overall, 3-1 in the RMAC, while UCCS fell to 3-6 overall, 1-4 in the RMAC. The Mountain Lions will be at Regis at 3:30 on Sunday.
