Brook Akers had 15 kills but the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs lost to 3-1 the Barry Buccaneers in its second match at the Grand Canyon Cactus Classic Friday afternoon at Phoenix.
The Mountain Lions lost 3-2 to the Northwest Nazarene Crusaders on Friday morning. Due to a computer malfunction at the host school, statistics for the morning game will not be available until Monday.
Akers hit .440 against Barry, the second time this season she's hit .400 or better. The rest of the Mountain Lions, however, combined to hit -.007.
Nicole Castera had 20 kills to lead Barry (3-2). Samara de Freitas added 16 kills, while Lorine Durski had 14.
UCCS (2-4) will play Armstrong Atlantic and host Grand Canyon on Saturday.
