Mountain Lions fall prey to Falcons 4-0

The Seattle Pacific University Falcons proved why they are the No. 6 ranked team in the nation Thursday night. The Falcons defeated the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs Mountain Lions 4-0 and limited the Mountain Lions to just two shots on goal in the first ever meeting between the two schools.

Falcon goalkeeper Kellen Rosten (10-2) finished the game with two saves and notched his sixth shutout of the season. Both of Rosten's saves came from bullet-like shots by Mark Brehm.

The Falcons (10-2) opened the scoring in the ninth minute when Colin Rigby took the ball across the field and launched a shot from 30 yards out. Mountain Lions goalkeeper Isaac Kostrow (3-4-1) was screened on the play and was unable to recover to make the save.

In the 13th minute Falcon sweeper Matt Kemper sent a long ball over the top of the Mountain Lion defense. Jeff Hallenback collected the ball in stride and slotted his shot past a diving Kostrow.

The Falcons scored once more in the first half with the goal coming in the 27th minute. James Coggan was able to find a soft spot in the Mountain Lionsâ€TM defense when Brandon Crutchfield crossed the ball. Coggan was able to head the ball uncontested from five yards out.

The Mountain Lions (6-8-1) are now 0-8 this season when their opponent scores first.
