COLORADO SPRINGS - Missouri Southern goalkeeper Travis Haight made two diving saves in the final six minutes to preserve a 1-0 win Friday night against the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs Mountain Lions.
In the 84th minute
Andrew Oliver gathered a loose ball just inside the penalty box. Oliver took a low shot to the lower right corner of the goal but Haight (3-7-1) was able to make a diving save.
One minute later
Juan Nolasco headed a crossing ball towards the net. Haight was in perfect position and made the save to preserve the shutout.
The game-winning goal came in the 42nd minute when Austin Whiles took a free kick from 20 yards away. Pat Kelly deflected the ball over the outstretched arms of Mountain Lionsâ€TM goalkeeper
Isaac Kostrow (3-5-1). Missouri Southern improved to 3-7-2 with the win, while the Mountain Lions fall to 6-9-1.
The Mountain Lions had ample opportunity to score but were unable to find the back of the net. The Mountain Lions finished the game with a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks taken.
The Mountain Lions are now 0-8 this season when their opponents score first and 6-0-1 when they score first.Â
