Diane Sheldon had 12 kills as the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs volleyball team defeated the Angelo State Rambelles 3-0 Friday night at the Lions' Den.
For the first time during the Amerisuites/Mountain Lion Invitational, UCCS was able to rein in its mistakes and allow its athleticism to come into play. The Mountain Lions (2-5) were plagued by hitting, service and ball handling errors in its previous two games in the tournament.
Kelly Angel added 10 kills with a .421 hitting percentage for UCCS, which outhit Angelo State .197 to .079. Angel also had two solo blocks and two assisted blocks.
UCCS' two freshman setters played by far their best match of the tournament, with
Jessica Stewart getting 23 assists and
Jocelyn Evans adding 14 assists and a pair of blocks.
Christina Doris led the Rambelles (2-4) with 12 kills.
