After a week of frustration the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs finally got what it was looking for - a conference win.

CU-Colorado Springs swept the Fort Lewis Skyhawks Friday night in Durango, Colo. for its first conference win of the season. The Mountain Lions dominated the Skyhawks 3-0, (30-21, 30-19-21).

"It's a great feeling," said coach Jessica Wood. "We really came out and played well tonight."

Both teams came into the match winless in the RMAC and with starting lineups full of underclassmen.

"We expected a battle tonight because we are both such young teams," said Wood. "I think our offense is a little more advanced and that caught them off guard."

CU-Colorado Springs out-hit the Skyhawks .248 to .076. Andrea Weedman again led the way for the Mountain Lions tallying 19 kills and 17 digs, both game highs. The freshman from Scottsdale, Ariz. hit .485 for the match. Jill Wrenn had 14 kills and Caroline Ottino added 12.

"Our (hitters) were really on tonight," said Wood. "They made very few mistakes."

Lindsey Hillegass had 44 assists and 11 digs. Freshmen Laura Meeter and Natalie Newberry each added 10 digs.

The Mountain Lions defense combined for 10 blocks and 66 digs, not allowing Fort Lewis to get into a rhythm the entire match. Serve returning was one of the brighter points of the night for the Mountain Lions. CU-Colorado Springs held the Skyhawks without an ace and didn't commit a single serve return error.

"We have been working hard all week on being more consistent," said Wood. "That really showed tonight."
