After another tough road loss the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs now has a razor thin margin of error if it is to make the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament. CU-Colorado Springs again played well Saturday night in Las Vegas, N.M. but lost to the New Mexico Highlands Cowgirls 3-1 (31-29, 22-30, 30-25, 30-26).

The Mountain Lions defense played very well, tallying 81 digs, led by Laura Meeter who recorded a career-high 30. Andrea Weedman led CU-Colorado Springs with 21 kills and 20 digs. Lindsey Hillegass had 49 assists while Jill Wrenn added 16 kills.

The Mountain Lions held a slim lead for most of Game 1 but failed to put the Cowgirls away. CU-Colorado Springs led 29-28 before Highlands scored two quick points take the lead. The next point ended in a bizarre play with the arenaâ€TMs horn sounding off in the middle of the play, and net violation eventually being called on the Mountain Lions to give the Cowgirls the 31-29 win.

The Mountain Lions bounced back to win Game 2, blowing out the Cowgirls 30-22. The Mountain Lions outhit the Cowgirls .288 to .212 in the game. The Cowgirls took Games 3 and 4 to close out the match.

The loss to the Cowgirls along, with Friday night's loss at Adams State, now leaves the Mountain Lions with the task of having to win likely three, if not all four, of it final games against conference opponents. Luckily for the Mountain Lions three of their final four games are at home beginning with Western State Saturday night.
