A long road trip ended in loss for the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs Sunday afternoon in Silver City, N.M. The Mountain Lions dropped their sixth consecutive match, this time to Western New Mexico 3-0 (30-28, 30-22, 30-26) in non-conference action.
The Mountain Lions, who were playing their third match in as many days, were led by
Jill Wrenn and
Caroline Ottino, who each had 12 kills.
Kelley Angel hit a sparkling .450 with 10 kills and four blocks.
Laura Meeter, who tallied 30 digs the night before at New Mexico Highlands, had a solid 19 digs.
Western New Mexico (17-9) held a slim advantage in hitting percentage, outhitting CU-Colorado Springs .216 to .195.
Liz Narkon had a match-high 21 kills and Courtney Hieser had 36 assists for Western New Mexico.
After a rough weekend, CU-Colorado Springs (11-13) is a full game behind Adams State for the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conferenceâ€TMs eighth and final playoffs spot. Both teams have four game remaining.
