COLORADO SPRINGS -- The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs lost its second straight match to a nationally-ranked opponent, falling 3-0 (30-26, 30-17, 30-17) to the No. 12 Fort Hays State Tigers Sunday at the Lions' Den.
One night after losing to No. 1 Nebraska Kearney, the Mountain Lions were overwhelmed by Fort Hays State (21-2, 12-1 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference). The Tigers outhit CU-Colorado Springs .359 to .106.
Amber Zoglman led the way for the Tigers with 17 kills, and six blocks. Zoglman was unstoppable at times, hitting .538 while committing just three hitting errors. Tiger setter Jayme Eichner had 39 assists.
Fort Hays State never trailed during Games 1 or 2. The only advantage the Mountain Lions held was a slim 3-1 lead early in Game 3.
Andrea Weedman led CU-Colorado Springs (11-10, 6-7 RMAC) with 10 kills and 11 digs.
Caroline Ottino added eight kills and
Jill Wrenn had seven.
Fort Hays State, which has won nine straight matches, has a rematch with Nebraska-Kearney, the only team to defeat the Tigers this season, on Tuesday.
