Make it two in a row.

For the first time since November of 2001, the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (5-19, 3-13 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) has won two straight games after knocking off Colorado State-Pueblo (6-17, 4-10 RMAC) Friday night in the Lions' Den. The Mountain Lions beat the Thunderwolves in three games, 30-18, 30-21, 30-28.

The win comes on the heels of a three-game victory over New Mexico Highlands on Tuesday. It also gave the Mountain Lions a sweep in the season series with CSU-Pueblo, after CU-Colorado Springs won a five-game nail biter in Pueblo Sept 12.

The Mountain Lions used a 14-5 run to blow Game 1 wide open as they rolled to the 12 point victory. Southern Colorado hit an anemic (-).167 and had four service errors in the opener.

In Game 2 CU-Colorado Springs went up 5-0 and never looked back. An Amanda Szentmartoni kill put the Mountain Lions up 13-4. Colorado-State Pueblo began to slowly chip at the lead and managed to cut it to 17-15. The Mountain Lions responded with a 9-2 run capped off by Caroline Ottino kill to go up 26-18.

Game 3 was much more tightly contested.

CU-Colorado Springs appeared to be headed for another easy victory when it jumped out to an early 7-2 lead. The Thunderwolves scored nine of the next 12 points to take a 11-10 lead. It was the first lead of the entire match for CSU-Pueblo after the Mountain Lions lead wire-to-wire in the first to games.

CSU-Pueblo had a 27-25 lead late before the Mountain Lions went on a 3-0 to go up 28-27.

After Colorado State-Pueblo tied it up on a Samantha Conelly kill, the Mountain Lions scored the next two points to close out the match.

"We are playing much better as a team right now, " said Coach Miller. "We have six or seven players stepping it up right now, not just one or two."
