Skakel won his first tournament at the NCAA Division II West / South Central Region Championships to qualify for the NCAA Division II National Championships. He tied for the tournament lead with a three-round score of 217 for 1-over par. He recorded a pair of eagles and nine birdies in his qualifying performance.
